This week, Life Training Online is reviewing Law of Attraction: The Science of Attracting More of What You Want and Less of What You Don’t, by Michael Losier, the seventeenth of fifty-two books in the 52 Personal Development Books in 52 Weeks series.

In the second part of the book, Losier goes into detail on how you can deliberately take control of what you attract in your life. To do this, he offers an easy to follow 3-step formula.

The 3-Step Formula for Deliberate Attraction

The three steps are: identify your desire, give your desire attention, and allow it. Let’s take a look at each of these in more detail.

  • Step 1: Identify your Desire

    As with any aim or goal, the first step is knowing exactly what you want. The problem with this, however, is that most people have no idea what they really want. They know what the DON’T want, but struggle when knowing what they DO want. Losier uses a technique taken from Esther and Jerry Hicks, called Contrast, to help discover what it is that you really want.

    Contrast, as applied to the law of attraction, is basically anything that for you, doesn’t feel good, or that you don’t like, or causes you to be in a negative mood. Contrast is helpful in this first step because as you realize what you don’t want, you can then ask yourself, “So what do I want?” Contrast then, helps become clearer about hat you really want.

    The key to using the Contrast exercise is not to get caught up in focusing on the negative because as I wrote about in the last post, what you focus on will expand. Use it just long enough to discover what you really want and move on.

  • Step 2: Give your Desire Attention

    In the last post we spoke about vibration and how the law of attraction will respond in like manner to the vibration you are sending out. If you have successfully identified your desire in step 1 but you are not focusing on it, there will be no manifestation because your desire is not part of your current vibration. You will begin to vibrate your desire when you give that desire positive energy, focus, and attention.

    The key is to identify your desire and then continue to give it attention. As you do this, you include the vibration of your desire in the vibration you are currently sending out, which again, causes the law of attraction to respond in kind.

  • Step 3: Allow It

    Step 3 is the most often overlooked step in making the law of attraction work for you. If you’ve identified your desire, and given it a lot of attention, but doubt that it will manifest, you end up saboutaging the entire process. It’s not enough just to identify and really want your desire. You must also remove any doubt that you will attract it. This doubt-removing process is called Allowing.

    Just how quick the law of attraction manifests your desire in your life is in direct proportion to how much you allow. So how do you know you are allowing? Losier says there are two ways you can tell if you are allowing:

    1. You can tell by how you feel. When you remove any resistance to manifesting your desire, you’ll feel a sense of relief.
    2. Manifestations of your desire begins to appear in your life. When you begin to see this evidence coming into your life, you know that you are allowing.
